Orlando Montan, Board Member

Orlando D. Montán is Director of Business Development for ARAMARK Education, a position he has held since March, 2010.  In this role, Orlando will work closely with regional executive leaders and directors in creating and implementing the sales processes, and aligning with regional operational goals to forge and lead relationships that will drive and deliver successful sales results while creating solutions for our clients.   Mr. Montán was previously a Program Director with New America Alliance (NAA).  The NAA connects and engages with thought leaders and influencers in Corporate America, Government, Academia, and Philanthropy.  The NAA’s goal is to build long-term relationships and leverage partnerships to benefit American Latinos.  As the voice of U.S. Latino business leadership, entrepreneurship, and philanthropy the NAA uses their influence to advocate for their initiatives.  They initiate dialogue, raise awareness and generate solutions to issues their membership is uniquely positioned to address.   The former Director of Verizon’s Multilingual, Verizon Plus and Channel Back office Operations Center (CBOC) Staff Support Organization, he was well known for exercising two of his strongest skills: building organizations and developing talent.   Orlando balanced responsibilities for Sales, Marketing, Systems, Methods and Procedures Support to drive increased sales and improved end-to-end process improvements within the Multilingual Call Centers and the Verizon Plus Retail Stores.  Previously, Orlando directed the Fiber Solution Center in California which provided support services to customers who subscribed to Verizon’s fiber optic service as well as provided technical assistance to technicians who installed and maintained the fiber network.  Earlier in his career, Orlando directed the Customer Relations Organization which was responsible for investigating and resolving all customer complaints.  In this highly visible post, he developed the processes, standards, and measurements to ensure that complaints were properly evaluated, resolved and met compliance with all legal and regulatory standards.

Mr. Montán joined NYNEX in 1996 as a sourcing process leader in the Corporate Sourcing group.  He later served as Senior Specialist in Network Services and as an Area Operations Manager in Wholesale Markets.  Then he went on to serve as Director for theRegionalCLECCoordinationCenter.

  With Dominican heritage, Orlando is a firm believer in giving back to his community.  He is a prominent figure within the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) where he is an active mentor.  Notably, he began his career in SHPE at SUNY Stony Brook where he was founder of the school’s chapter.  He later became President of theNew York CityProfessional Chapter.  He then became the Co-Chair of the SHPE Eastern Technical & Career Conference.  He has also played an instrumental role in organizing and managing the partnership that Verizon has with SHPE.  Orlando also worked closely with the Hispanic Support Organization at Verizon.   Orlando is a past recipient of the President’s Club, Leaders in Excellence Award for Community Service; SHPE Pioneer Award and Lifetime Achievement Award; a Hispanic Corporate Achiever and received the Dominico American Society Business Award for his Corporate commitment and dedication.  In addition, he was selected as the 2003 Career FOCUS Eagle Award winner. The Eagle Award salutes executives who exemplify and practice principled leadership in both their corporate and community involvements.  Most recently, Mr. Montán received SHPE’s highest recognition – The Jaime Oaxaca Award.   Orlando was awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the State University of New York, Stony Brook.  He resides in Flower Mound, Texas with his wife and two daughters.
