A lack of nutrition has an effect on a child’s learning. The Food FOR Thought Educational Program seeks to address this issue particularly during a time when children and families are struggling due to the COVID 19 pandemic that is having a devastating effect in our highest risk communities already struggling due to their low-socio economic status (SES).
Our grain of sand
The Food FOR Thought Educational Program was created in response the COVID 19 pandemic. We recognize that our low-income and vulnerable communities are in dire need of food and support. Children are most likely to experience the hardest challenges under the current situation while at home due to extreme poverty.
Our Food FOR Thought Educational Program seeks to provide academic learning packages to students and grocery bags with high-quality food items for their families, for learning to be supported in the home environment. We plan to provide these services to 300 children and families (mobile pantry) within Cityscape Schools located in East Dallas and Pleasant Grove.
Furthermore, provide 300 families with:
Reading Books
Workbooks
On-line (distance learning) workshops
Capacity building to support their children's learning at home
With your help we will create opportunities for families to earn incentives E.g. Food gift cards, school supplies, school uniforms
